Born in 1969 Hiroshima. It grows up as the second son of Japanese-style cooking restaurant "Chigusa". Although it is loved by the geisha girl and the maid and help serves as a everyday, it closes reluctantly from a rash master in financial difficulties. It is made young and catches a glimpse of facet of human society. Simultaneously, prospective hope will be found and it will strive.
1988 It works at many stores, such as variety shop and apparel shop. Sales, buyer and goods plan, and the encounter with good senior are experienced.
1997 Select shop is opened. later became starts of an event planning and an original brand. and "F.U inc." is established. Study will be repeated every day.
2000 Published "Free paper" with MSG which had designed a brand logo, the promotional materials of the store, etc. The influence of media has been recognized to be wonderful.
2004 Select shop is closed. The stage of activity is moved. "Free paper" edit work, advertising work, promotion plan, etc. experience series of real thrill.
2007 Office is established as hyphen design works inc.
art direction and design
Born in 1974 Hiroshima. grows up as the second son of the "Sakuramoto fresh fish shop" for well-beloved in area, still being shop now. Though it is a fresh fish store, it lives with the cat which uses a fish as a favorite food, with acquire the great breadth of mind. Interest will be borne against a design from the smell and textures of printed matter, such as a magazine and a book.
1994 Graduation from a technical academy. joined in company of Printing & design work. learned the basics.
1998 Activity is started as MSG, with Masanori Oji. It begins from the logo design of a store and participates also in various competitions. The design experience including an award is gained.
2000 Participates in "Free paper" work as MSG with the other company. The fun of an editorial design is touched and the domain of a design is extended.
2005 Focusing on activity of individual, MSG moves the base of activity. Then, art direction of "Free paper" is beginning, and relation by a design and society, reflection, influence, etc. get to know the depth of design anew.
2007 Office is established as hyphen design works inc.
草本明／代表兼フロントマン
1969年広島生まれ。割烹料亭「千草」の次男坊として育つ。芸者さんや仲居さんに愛され、お手伝いが日課となるが、無鉄砲な主人の経営難からやむなく閉店。幼くして社会の縮図を垣間見る。と同時に将来的な希望を見つけ、邁進することとなる。
1988年 雑貨、アパレル、など数店舗で勤務。販売・バイヤー・商品企画、良き恩師との出会いを経験する。
1997年 セレクトショップを開業。のち、イベントやオリジナルブランドにも着手。2年後、「有限会社エフユー」を設立。日々、勉強を重ねることとなる。
2000年 自社ブランドロゴや店舗の制作物などに関わっていたmsg.らと共にフリーペーパーを発行する。メディアに対する影響力は絶大と認識を深める。
2004年 店舗を閉店。経験を活かし、活動の舞台を移す。フリーペーパー、広告制作物、プロモーション企画など一連の醍醐味を味わう。
2007年 有限会社ハイフンデザインワークスとして事務所を構える。
桜本秀一／アートディレクション・デザイン
1974年広島生まれ。現在も地域に愛される「桜本鮮魚店」の次男坊として育つ。鮮魚店でありながら、魚を好物とする猫と暮らし、心の広さを身につける。雑誌・本など印刷物の匂いや質感からデザインに興味を抱くこととなる。
1994年 専門学校卒業後、印刷・デザイン制作会社に入社。基本的なことを学ぶ。
1998年 大治将典とmsg.として活動を開始。店舗のロゴデザインの仕事を皮切りに各種コンペにも参加。受賞を含め、デザイン経験を積む。
2000年 他社合同によりmsg.としてフリーペーパー制作に参加。エディトリアルデザインの面白さに触れ、デザインの領域を広げる。
2005年 msg.は個々の活動を中心に、それぞれが活動の拠点を移す。その後、フリーペーパーのアートディレクションをはじめ、デザインと社会との関わり、反映や影響など、改めてデザインの深みを知る。
2007年 有限会社ハイフンデザインワークスとして事務所を構える。
